Antisocial behaviour and crime are issues that no community is ever completely immune to. It only takes a small number of individuals to cause disruption and distress for many residents, and we know how frustrating and upsetting that can be.

As your local councillor team, we are doing everything we can to address these issues and support residents. This includes raising concerns directly with the Council’s ASB team and the police, with whom we meet on a regular basis. We continuously work on specific issues such as poor street lighting, getting CCTV installed where appropriate, and distributing street letters to keep residents informed and encourage reporting.

However, one of the most important factors in tackling antisocial behaviour is reporting.

Incidents need to be reported quickly and directly to the Council or the police so that they can build a clear picture, identify patterns, and take appropriate action. We understand that it can sometimes feel like nothing happens, but without reports, it becomes much harder for services to intervene effectively.

Report it!

You can report antisocial behaviour in your neighbourhood, e.g. problems with your neighbours, to the Council team via https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/reporting-antisocial-behaviour. If you are renting from a housing association, they may provide you with their own reporting tools- please check with them.

For more serious cases and criminal activity, call the police on 101 or use the police web chat: https://www.cambs.police.uk/police-forces/cambridgeshire-constabulary/areas/services/web-chat/.

Call the police on 999 for life-threatening emergencies, serious injuries, crimes in progress, or immediate danger, such as breathing difficulties, severe bleeding, or a serious road accident.

Use the StreetSafe service to report safety concerns about streets and open spaces (anonymously): https://www.cambs.police.uk/notices/street-safe/street-safe/.

You can find a range of reporting tools here: https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/report-it.
